Whenever I strolled down the Fulham Road, heading towards Stamford Bridge, I always used to have a wry smile on my face when I saw a t-shirt hanging from several of the stalls selling merchandising.

It proclaimed,

“1966 was a good year for English football, Gianfranco Zola was born”

Today, 5th July, Gianfranco Zola is 49-years-of-age and here at Vital Chelsea we`d like to wish our Sardinian legend many happy returns.

Zola was a rarity when he was on the books of Chelsea Football Club, he was a consummate professional, the perfect example to follow and a player that was not only admired and loved by us but also by supporters of other teams.

We all have a favourite Gianfranco moment, whether it be a goal, a moment of sublime skill or maybe something else.

Therefore, on the occasion of his 49th birthday I`d like you to share your favourite Zola memory.

Mine, to set the ball rolling, would have to be that moment when he, out near the corner flag, bamboozled three (or was it four) Liverpool defenders, leaving two totally befuddled and third on his backside, as he show-cased his skills.

What was yours?
