On Wednesday evening, in Madrid Eden Hazard provided a sublime performance.

It was the kind of performance whereby any claims that he is, currently, the best player in English football were justified.

Those tantalising ball-skills, allied with that low centre-of-gravity, allowed to show that devastating burst of pace that scares defenders` rigid.

Ahead of the clash with Manchester City yesterday, Antonio Conte, talking about his star-player had remarked,

‘Eden, in every game, he finds a way to be decisive, to score or to make an assist for a team-mate. I love this.

‘If God gives you this talent, you must exploit this talent. My task is sometimes to try to push him to be decisive in every moment, in every game.

‘This season has started for him with a big game against Atletico Madrid and now he has to show this season that he deserves to stay at the top with the best.’

Sadly, against Manchester City, Hazard was almost anonymous, showing that it is still inconsistency that prevents him being placed alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, as the best in the world.

  • As said he is just coming back from injury and a high intensity game in Madrid where he was class, get back to full fitness and he will be great

  • I think he tried his best. He just couldn’t do all the works. I believe Pedro could have complimented his efforts better than Willian.

  • Hazard couldn’t do much yesterday because we’re chasing the ball around throughout the game. He did the best he could but had no one to complement him…
