History Set To Repeat Itself At Chelsea When It Comes To Splashing Out £50 Million On A January Transfer Window Striker

|

The last time Chelsea Football Club spent £50 million, on a striker, in a January transfer window, it made national headlines.

In what was an audacious swoop, the club brought a certain Fernando Torres, to West London, from Liverpool.

Now whether Torres was the success we all hoped he would be remains a debatable subject, however, it should never be forgotten that sublime goal he scored, away to Barcelona in 2012, paved the way for the greatest moment in our clubs history.

This transfer window, with the club in desperate need of a top-class striker, look prepared to lay out £50 million for a striker who, like Torres, plays for another Premier League club, one Callum Wilson.

According to the news source, the Daily Star, Chelsea’s priority, when it comes to a striker, remains the Argentine star, Gonzalo Higuain, but if negotiations to bring the 31-year-old to Stamford Bridge break down then Chelsea will switch their sights to persuading Bournemouth to part-company with Wilson by offering up to £50 million.

Sat here in the editorial seat, I know which of the two strikers I’d prefer to see in a blue shirt and it isn’t Higuain.
