How Much Longer Must We Put Up With Sarri Torturing Us?

|

Another win, despite the lacklustre performance, has resulted in Chelsea having a good chance of not only finishing in the top-four but snatching, if they hold their nerve, third-place.

But, despite Chelsea collecting the three points available, at Cardiff on Sunday, all is far from well in the blue camp.

Goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Ruben Loftus-Cheek may have sealed what, at times, looked a very unlikely victory, but the travelling support left Maurizio Sarri, on more than one occasion, of their feeling towards a manager who continues to frustrate.

Chants relating to his job security filled the Welsh air and many a Chelsea supporter would dance a jig of joy if he were to be axed.

But with Chelsea looking for a top-four finish and a piece of silverware, in the shape of the Europa League, a sacking doesn’t appear on the cards.

Talking to the media after the game and as reported by the BBC, Sarri had his own views on why the Chelsea supporters were giving him such a hard time, remarking:

“They were probably unhappy for the result.

“I can understand, I can understand very well. I am getting used to this.”

But, clearly, you don’t understand Sarri, it’s not a matter of the result it’s the manner in which it was achieved, Chelsea supporters want to be entertained, they want to watch free-flowing football, they don’t want to watch the ball being ponderously played across the backline, five yards forward and then ten yards back, it’s so bloody boring.

However, it’s not just that Sarri, it’s your reluctance to use Kante in his preferred position, your reluctance to use the players that are in form and your strange way of thinking, as illustrated by the decision to not start with N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard, with Sarri remarking, as reported by the same source, about them being left out:

“Kante has played 50 matches and Hazard 47.

“In the last week they played two games for their national teams for 180 minutes so I thought it was time to rest them.

“We were lucky because we gained three points and Hazard played 30 or 35 minutes and Kante zero minutes.”

Lucky more than describes the outcome of the game, Chelsea rarely threatened relegation bound Cardiff, despite all their possession and only getting back into the game through a clearly offside goal.

These are not the best of times to be watching Chelsea and we all know who is the culprit!
