It`s something we`ve been crying out for, the need to inject some pace on the flanks, could our prayers be about to be answered?

One leading tabloid carries an exclusive that Chelsea are in the race to sign the Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez.

Having looked as if Barcelona were odds-on to sign him, news has filtered through that the deal has stalled and that Sanchez is looking towards Stamford Bridge for the next stage of his career.

The Udinese winger is rated in the £36 million bracket and would be the sort of high-profile signing that Andre Villas-Boas is looking to make to signal his intent to make a real impact this coming season.

The article goes as far as to say that Andre has spoken to the Chilean and sold the club to a player that Manchester City are rumoured to have bid something in the region of £40 million for.

Speaking about Chelsea`s sudden involvement, a source close to Sanchez is reported as having told the media,

“Sanchez feels backed into a corner by City and Udinese purely because of money.”

“He thought a deal to Barcelona was done until City moved in. But he doesn`t feel City have the same pedigree as Chelsea and he is excited about working with Villas-Boas.”

Sit back and wait for any further developments!
