Recently, the future of Chelsea’s French striker, Olivier Giroud, has started to generate media column inches.

Although, in one article, could-the-emergence-of-tammy-abraham-have-an-adverse-effect-on-another-chelsea-striker, we covered the fact that Frank Lampard wanted the 33-year-old to remain at Stamford Bridge, another article, crystal-palace-keen-to-offer-chelsea-striker-the-first-team-football-he-craves implied that it looked very much as if Giroud would be leaving Chelsea come the opening of the January transfer window.

Today, that inference is given further foundation courtesy of Football London, with it being championed that Giroud’s agent has made contact with the French side Lyon, over a possible January move.

The crux of the matter continues to be the lack of first-team action Giroud is getting a point illustrated by the fact that on Saturday, away to Burnley, Giroud was only awarded a late cameo role.

However, if Chelsea were to let Giroud leave, they’d only be left with Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi as striking options unless the Court of Arbitration for Sport can get that two-window transfer ban reduced to a single window.

I wonder how this scenario will pan out.

Your thoughts, in our comment facility beneath this article, would be greatly appreciated.
