Is Now The Time For Chelsea To Sell Kante?

Since his arrival in 2016 N’Golo Kante has been one of Chelsea most prized assets and was instrumental in the Premier League triumph in his debut season with the blues.

He was the first player since Eric Cantona to win back-to-back league titles with two different teams, showing how effective he was for Leicester when they won the Premier League.

With Chelsea looking to bring in new players this transfer window the question, Lampard may be asking himself – Is Kante Surplus to his Requirements?

Kante’s season under Lampard has been somewhat disruptive picking up injuries throughout the 2019/2020 campaign. Jorginho, Kovacic, and most recently Gilmour have all filled in for the French international during periods missed through injury.

Real Madrid have been monitoring Kante closely since his Leicester City days and are poised to make an offer at around the £70 million mark as reported by The Daily Mail.

With Chelsea already wrapping up the signing of Ziyech and Werner close to signing, funds may be needed to bring in additional players.

On the other hand, can Chelsea risk losing one of the world’s best central midfielders?

Despite his injuries, it can be argued that Kante is the club’s best player since the departure of Eden Hazard.

Sarri has made it no secret about his admiration for Jorginho and have offered several players in exchange for his services, something the The Daily Mail has also picked up on.

The Chelsea board may find it more beneficial to raise funds through the sale of Jorginho rather than risk losing one of the worlds’ best central midfielders.

However, with Kante turning 30 next year this could be the last chance to get a big fee in.
