Is One Of Chelsea’s Young Stars Over-Rated?

|

Last season I’m assuming I wasn’t alone when Bayern Munich’s interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi looked as if this exciting young talent would be leaving Stamford Bridge.

This season I’m assuming I wasn’t alone when having recovered from a bad injury Hudson-Odoi put his name to a long-term contract with Chelsea Football Club.

But, being very honest and only stating what I’m feeling at the moment, is Callum as good as everybody is saying he is?

I know it is a controversial sentence and I know I’m going to ship some flak, but that’s what free speech is all about is it not?

Yesterday, as England bored me rigid in an international fixture against Kosova, Hudson-Odoi was given a start by Gareth Southgate and an obvious chance to impress.

Sadly, it wasn’t to be!

Callum never really got into the match and apart from one lively run that saw a shot unleashed that was off target, the youngster looked like a fish out of the water and it came as no surprise when Southgate decided to substitute him.

Now Callum may be just going through a bad patch as he continues to get back that sharpness needed after a long-term injury, but I can’t help coming back to that question of mine – is Callum as good as everybody is saying he is?

Your thoughts, please!
