Newspaper gossip suggests that might be the case.

The notion that Atletico Madrid are of the belief that Chelsea might be persuaded to part with the German World Cup winner, appears to be growing by the day.

With Atletico having sold several of their stars their manager, the Argentine Diego Simeone, wants Schurrle in his squad due to his versatility, whereby he can play on both wings and also through the middle.

The 2014 World Cup was a good one for Schurrle, three goals leading up to the final plus an assist in the final for the winning goal, have led to Schurrle`s stock rising.

Atletico are aware that Chelsea paid Bayer Leverkusen £19 million for the player and are hoping that a similar fee will see the 23 year-old move to La Liga.

The insinuation is also being bandied about that having secured Filipe Luis and Diego Costa from Atletico, as well as recalling Thibaut Courtois from his three year loan spell with them, Chelsea might be willing to do a deal to keep the relationship between the two clubs amicable.

To which I would say, what utter bollox, does such camaraderie exist in this game of ours anymore, or is it everyone for themselves?

But more importantly, will Schurrle stay or will, as Atletico hope, he`ll be sold on?
