Last summer, it appeared that Chelsea were intent on adding to their central defender contingent by bringing the Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to Stamford Bridge.

Many of you may recall that Chelsea, according to press speculation, were raising their bid for the 25-year-old on a regular basis, in order to acquire the services of the Senegal international.
However, according to one respected source, Metro, it wouldn`t have mattered how much Chelsea would have offered Napoli for the player.

According to the Napoli president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, it wasn`t about the money Chelsea were offering but more to do with Napoli being unable to procure a replacement.

As it turned out, Chelsea opted to bring David Luiz back to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain and the club has never looked back.

Strange how things turn out isn`t it?

  • My opinion is the exact same between him and Lukaku, you can keep them both well away from our club. I must admit, I’ve only seen him three times this season and like Lukaku, his touch is terrible. He looked so shaky, slow, cumbersome and error prone. One thing they both have in common is, their both big units but could be a total waste of £130m. Surely bringing Christensen back, who’s had a great season in Germany, is a much better solution.
