It’s A Matter Of When Not If A Chelsea Youngster Puts Pen To Paper On A New Deal

|

The unpredictability of the modern game and the manner in which things can change so quickly is perfectly illustrated by the events that have befallen our talented teenage forward Callum Hudson-Odoi.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that the 18-year-old was being pursued by the German giants of Bayern Munich with Chelsea fearful that the player, in order to obtain regular first-team football, was being tempted to leave Stamford Bridge.

But those fears were somewhat diminished when Maurizio Sarri decided to give Callum playing time.

Unfortunately, just as the teenager was showing his prowess on the pitch and just why they were willing to pay such a large fee for the player, Hudson-Odoi picked up a bad injury that sees him still side-lined at the moment.

Also, since picking up the injury circumstances have changed dramatically at Chelsea.

Sarri has gone and Frank Lampard is bringing, to the club, a style of football that Hudson-Odoi would surely appreciate.

Now we can’t say for sure that a move to Bavaria is no longer on the teenagers’ mind but lurking in the pages of Football London, is the inference it is not a case of if Callum will put pen-to-paper on a new deal but when!

Furthermore, the insinuation is also given that the deal will be announced as soon as Callum is ready and available for a return to first-team action.

Let’s hope our source is correct and isn’t leading us up the garden path.
