It’s Already A Record Breaking Season For Chelsea

|

With the dust settled on what was an entertaining, putting it politely, Europa League quarter-final tie, against Slavia Prague, three quite amazing facts have emerged.

It transpires that by beating the Czech side, 4-3 on the night, Chelsea set a unique record. It was the 11th victory Chelsea have achieved in Europe this season, that is the highest number of victories, by an English side, in European games in a single season. Can Chelsea possibly raise that barrier even more with a semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt coming up and a possible appearance in the final in Baku?

Although Maurizio Sarri’s style of football isn’t appreciated by everyone, it’s worth pointing out that the 4 goals Chelsea scored, against Slavia Prague, saw the club become only the second Premier League club, behind Manchester City to score 100 goals in all competitions this season.

In getting on the scoresheet, our French striker, Olivier Giroud, became the first Chelsea player to score 10 goals in a single season in European football, further proof that the World Cup winning striker deserves more of a chance in the Premier League.

Here’s hoping we can set a few more records before the season comes to an end.
