The Chelsea future of Alvaro Morata continues to generate column inches in the media.
With speculation abound, it is getting to the stage whereby you have to start pondering whether the Chelsea career of our record signing will be no longer than just the one season.
Today, the good folk of the respected news source, the Independent have once again reiterated that the Serie A champions, Juventus, are looking to take Morata back to the club where he played during the period 2014 – 2016.
Elsewhere, another news source, the Mirror have come up with the startling suggestion that Chelsea are continuing to reject overtures from the Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund, to do a permanent deal for Michy Batshuayi but would welcome offers for Morata.
But what’s the feeling here in Vital Chelsea towers, are Chelsea ready to sell the 25-year-old striker who scored 11 Premier League goals in his 31 appearances last season?
Our gut feeling is that it’ll depend on who is in the managerial hot-seat come the summer and it may also depend on how much of the reputed £60 million Chelsea paid Real Madrid they could recoup.
It could also depend on whether Chelsea can identify a replacement striker to replace the Spaniard which could be a hard task with no prospect of Champions League football to offer as an enticement.
Let’s just say it wouldn’t surprise us if this piece of speculation rumbled on throughout the transfer window!
