If the story is to be believed it would seem that the Czech international isn?t enjoying his loan spell in England?s second city as much as he thought he would. Indeed, the Czech suggests that rather than stay at Birmingham City he?d prefer to move back to CSKA Moscow.

Now we know that England?s second city leaves a lot to be desired but Jiri must find it a strange place to prefer to return to Moscow. Perhaps we should seek a reason for this sudden revelation further in the story text?

Jiri goes on to explain that he didn?t join Birmingham City (on loan) to fight a relegation battle, basically suggesting it?s not his scene. Perhaps, after witnessing the glory at Stamford Bridge last season, Jiri is finding the harsh reality of life amongst the lesser achievers startlingly bleak.

Perhaps the realisation that his former team are riding high relegates the novelty of scoring some wonderful goals for Birmingham to a feeling of almost despair. In fact Jiri, in a roundabout way, indicates that he knew his time at Chelsea was coming to an end when the chase for Michael Essien finally secured the player?s signature.

Jiri, during his spell at Chelsea, was one of those who hardly set the club alight. Instead, he was one of those players?s who did a solid if unspectacular job. His style was never going to please those who had been spoilt by the flashes of brilliance displayed by his associates but nevertheless always pleased his manager.

During pre-season, Jiri played probably the best game of his Chelsea career against Wycombe Wanderers in a friendly. In a one-sided affair, Jiri dominated the midfield and scored, if I?m not mistaken, a brace of goals that would have decorated any game. However, a long career at Chelsea was not to be the outcome.

Now, apparently, Jiri has set his sights on returning to CSKA Moscow, a side who won the UEFA Cup last season. Now we?re not one?s to pour ridicule or scorn on anybodies ambitions, however, would we be a trifle churlish if we pointed out that any return to Moscow just might coincide with the winter break in Russia?

To early to wish Mr Jarosik a ?Merry Christmas? is it?
