Keeper Bids Goodbye To Chelsea And Drops Into The Championship

|

The arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga, last summer, certainly set Chelsea’s stall out as far as who would be the occupant of the green jersey for the foreseeable future.

Clubs don’t pay a transfer fee, circa £71.6 million for a player not likely to own the green jersey.

Also, with the club having Willy Caballero on the books and then adding the veteran Robert Green to the squad, it’s no wonder that Brad Collins found himself out on loan at Burton Albion.

Collins was a valued member of Burton’s League One squad but, this coming season, the 22-year-old will be playing his football elsewhere.

The BBC, are reporting that Collins, who was between the posts when the youth side won the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup in 2014 / 2015, has signed for the Championship side, Barnsley, on a four-year deal.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we wish Brad Collins all the best at Barnsley and we hope his career goes from strength-to-strength.

But it just goes to show, once again, how hard it is to bridge that gap between the youth team and the first team at Stamford Bridge.
