Lampard Has An Important Decision To Make Regarding The Future Of A Young Centre Back

|

Up on Merseyside, with transfer deadline day upon us, it would seem that Everton are looking towards Stamford Bridge with regards to acquiring a centre-back.

Last season, the Toffees were privileged to have Kurt Zouma on a season-long loan.

However, as we’ve suspected for several weeks now and as confirmed by The Liverpool Echo, Frank Lampard wants the popular 24-year-old centre-back to remain at Stamford Bridge this season, feeling that the defender has a crucial role to play at Stamford Bridge this season.

With that being the case, The Sun, are reporting that Everton are now looking towards acquiring the services of Fikayo Tomuri.

Last season, 21-year-old Tomuri impressed on his season-long loan deal at Derby County where, incidentally, he was managed by a certain Frank Lampard.

However, whether a deal can be done, especially with David Luiz, chelsea-stunned-by-latest-transfer-development, set to head off to Arsenal, remains to be seen.

Lampard will be reluctant to place himself in a situation whereby he’s struggling, numbers-wise, for central defensive options.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we’ll certainly be interested to see which way this one goes.
