Lampard Looks To Chelsea To Bolster His Derby Squad

|

As the preparations for the 2018 / 2019 season commence, it’s odds-on that when it comes to players going out on loan, we can expect Chelsea to have a significant amount of players plying their trade away from their parent club.

Last season, our England U21 defender, Jay Dasilva spent the season on loan with Charlton Athletic.

The 20-year-old flourished at Charlton winning their ‘Player of the Year’ award at the end of his loan spell.

Understandably, Charlton would like to take Dasilva on another loan spell.

However, having established his credentials, the news source, the Mirror, are reporting that Frank Lampard, now in charge at Derby County, wants to acquire the talented defender for next season.

Lampard and his assistant Jody Morris, recently watched Dasilva in action, for the England U21 side in the recent Toulon tournament semi-final win against Scotland.

Our source also reports that there are also a couple of Premier League clubs also interested in loaning the player.

Therefore, it can be seen that Chelsea have a difficult decision to make, do they let him return to Charlton for another season, do they loan him to a Premier League club knowing he might not get as much action as he’d like, or would Pride Park, under the tutorship of Lampard and Morris be the best option.

Personally, I’d opt for the latter option and see how Dasilva copes in different surroundings and at a Championship side who made the playoffs last season.

Who knows, it could be the first of several calls Lampard makes to Chelsea looking to loan some of our plethora of young talent.
