Match Day Moments – Aston Villa (A) – Premier League

|

It has been an age since we last saw Chelsea play in the Premier League.

The COVID-19 pandemic has, for now, altered the way the game is played to such an extent that when Chelsea emerge from the tunnel, at Villa Park, this afternoon, they’ll be greeted by the sight of an empty stadium.

But there is still a huge amount to play for.

Our season resumes with Chelsea lying in 4th place in the table and with a great chance of securing Champions League football for next season.

However, our opponents, Aston Villa, also have a lot to play for, their Premier League status is under threat with Villa occupying one of the relegation places.

It promises to be an interesting 90 minutes and, here at Vital Chelsea, we’ve revived our Match Day Moments feature enabling you to offer your thoughts on, but not limited, the following:

1 – The build-up to the big game.

2 – The starting eleven selected by Frank Lampard.

3 – The action as it happens at Villa Park.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate aftermath of the final whistle sounding.

Up the Chels!

5 points up, if we can get something from Man City & beat Leicester we could be in a good position to climb to 3rd

Going forward we were good, though Alonso was dire with his crosses & non-crosses. Defenders were shaky , especially from set pieces & not recognising players making a run in time. Willian, Mount, Pulicic very good, Kante, Giroud industrious as usual, for me Alonso was bad, and Reece james in his cameo was really off colour.

I thought we played well but didn’t get behind them enough and fell behind to bad defending it’s not the first time maybe along with our attacking signings we need to consider a defender as well. However we show great character in coming back I really like Pulisic On another note I thought young billy Gilmore was brilliant before the lock down so bit surprised to see him not take part Loftus-Cheek showed his lack of playing time has had an effect on him so again I was surprised to see him actually start the game
