Match Day Moments – PAOK Salonika (A)

|

Now that the first round of European Champions League fixtures have been played we can all settle back and prepare for Europe’s Premier competition, the Europa League.

Okay, I jest, but although my apathy towards the Champions League’s little brother is well known, it does, in all honesty, open up a route to the Champions League, next season, with the winners gaining automatic qualification. Now that could be a huge bonus considering how competitive the English Premier League is.

This evening Chelsea are in Greece, for a group fixture against PAOK Salonika, having made a fantastic start to our Premier League campaign, winning the first five games, Maurizio Sarri has indicated that he will make four or five changes to his starting eleven, the most significant of which has seen Eden Hazard left in London, with the Belgian being given time to rest after his energetic start to the new season.

PAOK will provide stiff opposition, they play in front of a partisan crowd that create a unique atmosphere and have won, just like us, all their league games this season as they stake a claim for the Greek title.

As is the norm, we’re running our Match Day Moments feature where we encourage your participation by leaving comments on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to the game.

2 – The starting eleven selected by Maurizio Sarri.

3 – The action as it happens over in Greece.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period between the final whistle sounding and the match report appearing on Vital Chelsea.

Let’s hope we can start this campaign with three points.

Up the Chels!
