Match Day Moments – Premier League – Arsenal v Chelsea

|

In what is, without doubt, an ongoing relentless run of fixtures, Chelsea start their festive programme with a trip to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal.

It is a fixture laced with tradition and one that is eagerly anticipated.

This season there is a little added spice with the game providing Chelsea with the opportunity to come up against two familiar faces, in the shape of David Luiz and William, both of whom opted for the bright lights of North London, after not being part of Frank Lampard’s long-term plans.

Both would, you just know, love to prove a point and score against us, similarly, I am in no doubt the former Arsenal striker, has similar ambitions.

As is the norm, here at Vital Chelsea, we are giving you the opportunity to offer your views on a variety of topics, linked to the game, including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to the big game.

2 – The starting XI selected by Frank Lampard

3 – The action as it happens at the Emirates Stadium.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period following the sounding of the final whistle.

Will our boys provide us with the additional Christmas present of three points?

Let us all hope so.

@ Uncle Merlin, I thought the newly adopted heading (Match Day Focus) is here for good. What’s with the chopping and changing? Anyways, another 3 points today would go a long way to setting our season back on track. We need to cultivate a habit of not knowing when we are beaten by going on another streak of victories after every set-back.

Hi Ridwan, it is all down to response, the old Match Day Moments was more popular so I reverted back to it.

This first half has been a real reality check for me …. I thought we would be pumped up for this derby but we seem off the pace , lethargic , and making clumsy mistakes. More of this & I think that realistically we will be fighting now for top-4 at best, forget rings.

Totally unnecessary fouls for both goals . James was so foolish to make contact from behind in the box for the penalty. For the 2nd, I think the foul was some way off from where Arsenal finally took it and they benefitted from that, but it was unnecessary again.

1-3 final score …. We showed good fight at the end, but it was too little too late. Jorginho , a rare penalty miss, had he put it away it might have given us one last attack to even it up.
