Match Day Moments – Premier League – Aston Villa (H)

|

Just forty-eight hours after the disappointment of losing to Arsenal, at the Emirates Stadium, Chelsea get the chance to seek redemption when they entertain Aston Villa, at Stamford Bridge.

If you needed any proof that football can be a funny old game, as the legend that is Jimmy Greaves often used to say, then look no further than what has happened to Chelsea in just a couple of weeks.

Touted as possible Premier League title winners, courtesy of the squad we have assembled, a poor run of form has left us looking at occupying a mid-table position, not something we envisaged before the season started.

Hopefully, Frank Lampard can inspire his team to get back to winning ways this evening otherwise the pressure on the boss is likely to increase with a visit from Manchester City looming large.

As is the norm, we are running our Match Day Moments feature where we encourage you to express your views on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to the crucial fixture.

2 – The starting eleven selected by Frank Lampard.

3 – The action as it happens at Stamford Bridge.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period following the sounding of the final whistle.

Three points this time please Chelsea, anything else will not suffice.

1-0 at half time … Good headed goal from Giroud of a smart move from Chelsea …. We have been the better team but we need a cushion of a couple more goals before we can breathe easy

Pulisic & Mount have been impressive in what has been a good shift put in by the entire team, unlike the insipid performance Vs Arsenal. Kante too, though he gives away fouls unnecessarily at times.

1-1 ….. Another very disappointing result in the end. Few more like this & we will be well behind in the race for Top-4 … And Lampard will have to look over his shoulder, though I don’t feel he’s done much wrong.
