It’s an early kick-off for Chelsea today when they take on Everton, at Goodison Park.

I’ve never been a fan of these 12:30 kick-offs, especially when they involve the necessity for the away support to travel the length of the country.

However, as we all know, television pays the money and dictates such things.

Chelsea approach this game buoyed by the midweek win over Aston Villa and the news that the transfer ban has come to a premature end.

Everton, on the other hand, are a club in crisis. Following a bad run of form, they axed their manager, Marco Silva, in midweek and have appointed their former striker, Duncan Ferguson, on a caretaker basis.

But, despite the turmoil, I fully expect Everton to be stiff opposition this lunchtime and push Chelsea all the way.

As usual, we’re running our Match Day Moments feature where we invite you to participate by leaving your views on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to the big game.

2 – The starting eleven named by Frank Lampard.

3 – The action as it happens at Goodison Park.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period that follows the sounding of the final whistle.

Here’s hoping we’re all smiles by the time the remainder of the Premier League games kick-off at the traditional time of 15:00 hours this afternoon.

  • I’m furious defending a joke how many more times will kepa pass to the opposition if you can’t pass belt it up the park for f…s sake

    • Said it a long time ago that Willian and Giroud are expired goods. Unfortunately the way Willian runs up and down deceives people that he is doing some hard work when it almost always comes to nothing.

  • The worst lacklustre performance disgraceful it was obvious they would be a different outfit but to gift them goals we were never competing we got bullied by a poor team who will be lucky to stay up that’s West Ham now Everton games we should have been easily able to get points from

    • Going to be in a big fight for 4th very soon with Spurs & other sides, while we are slipping further behind Leicester …. I don’t see ManC dropping behind & Pool are likely winners this year. So we need to get our defence sorted out immediately. Rudy can’t come back soon enough, and we need a GK who can push Kepa. Not sure who the other 3 alongside Rudy need to be, but Lamps needs to figure it out before long else CL football next year might not be on the cards. As far as forward line goes, we need someone who can push Tammy, and we need CHO to get a run ahead of Willian .

  • @Muleya1 May God bless you as you echoed my sentiments and I couldn’t have put my words better. Willian is a spent force and we are hindering the progress of Odoi by constantly picking him ahead of the youngster. We are all now saying Odoi is not good enough and all sorts of things but we are really guilty of not giving him enough chance to regain his form after a long lay off with injury

  • Lamps has axed Jorginho from the starting 11 since he had one bad game against Man City and we all can see how porous our build up from the back has been. The way Jorginho drops into the hole between the defence and midfield is purely genius but we are an insatiable lot because we want him to play box to box to box. Many of see the brilliance of Kovacic but he should be further up the pitch and not try to overplay it from our half. It has to be Jorginho and Kante alongside each other while Kovacic should slug it out for a place with Mount and Ruben when he returns

  • Thanks, Ridwan. you’ve got a good understanding of soccer. Jorginho plays with his head, has increased his work rate and mostly is a leader…..far more than Azpi and anyone else in that team. I do not believe he had a bad game against the city. They were simply better. I say play the 3 (Jorg, Kovacic, and Kante in difficult games). Drop Mason for lesser games. We need to be compact and energetic in the middle. The idea of not flaying an out and out left-back is killing g me…….Emerson is very well capable.
I also think Tammy needs to get his head down, he is nowhere a top striker and shouldn’t be throwing his arms up when he doesn’t get passes……
The lost of this match and the last two are solely on the coach…so much imbalance in the team selection.

  • The only thing I saw or forsee was…. When I learnt Chelsea will play everton away on saturday early kick off… With their manager sacked…. I feared the worst.

    1. Energy… I know players run a lot, and they don’t get that stamina. They were visibly tired against Valencia and west ham game proved it. They rallied to make sure they got a result against Villa and they did… Then everton again with the circumstances…. I was scared. Cos I know, they wont muster the energy to take this game… They later proved me right.
That’s why I don’t want to criticize any of them right now.
Because these situations must surely come, in the season , if you look clearly from the August and the squad…
There must be rotation, there must be mistakes, there must feeling of not enough…. We all knew this from the start.
