It’s the festive season and the fixtures are coming thick and fast.

With the joy of beating Tottenham Hotspur, on their own patch, having proven to be the most welcome of early Christmas presents, Chelsea welcome Southampton, to Stamford Bridge, for a crucial Premier League fixture.

Chelsea’s home form, this season, could be best described as patchy and after the wonderful performance on Sunday afternoon, in North London, Frank Lampard will be looking for his side to make it two wins on the bounce against a Southampton side that have struggled this season but who are a side that are, on their day, capable of beating the best.

As usual, we’re running our Match Day Moments feature whereby we invite you to leave your views on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to the big game.

2 – The starting eleven selected by Frank Lampard.

3 – The action as it happens at Stamford Bridge.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period following the sounding of the final whistle.

Here’s hoping it’s the Chelsea support that have the biggest smiles on their faces come 17:00 hours (UK time) Thursday evening.

  • Hopefully Hudson Odoi grabs this rare opportunity with both hands and put in a shift. He has been trying too hard to impress the manager and it has been affecting his play generally. Anyway, three points is all we ask but a fine performance wouldn’t go amiss

  • Abraham needs to concentrate on scoring and not running all over the pitch, we already knows he can play and he doesn’t need to play to the gallery. Stay in the box boy, with their last man boy.

  • We were so good at Tottenham we are complete opposite today dreadful first half if this continues we will loose we haven’t made any chances haven’t got behind them they need a rocket at half time or make changes quick

  • Observations : this is period which i was scared of, when lampard was about to take the job.. November to February.
    1. Lampard got it so wrong by using 3-4-3 at home against Southampton… Rudiger, zouma, tomori are defensive, not passers of the ball among them. Playing Azpilicueta whom we know he’s a poor attacker, poor crosser, poor passers…,at the wing back with Emerson… Lampard never wanted to score a goal today.
    2. Emerson was so poor as I have ever seen him… This guy should be sold before Alonso.
    3. Kante, even with fatigue was one of the best players out there…. You can see why he is head and shoulders above every one in this team.
    4. This team needs a striker whom Abraham will be a back up to…,as soon as possible.
    5. I keep saying this, am still waiting for the day Hudson odoi will show me why he was been hyped… Cos since I saw him play for the first time, I never got that.
    6. Am beginning to think we need a replacement to jorginho.
    7. Tammy, pulisic, Mount all show why they are young players and not seasoned campaigners.
    8. We lack creativity in this team.
Both movements and play… Not just individual creative players.
    9. I thought we should have build on sarri’s work and fine tune it… Not becoming a British team of long ball and crosses.
10.. We are off form, this is when to look at the team constructively… Not when we were on form…

  • That was as bad as spurs win was good we never got behind them didn’t really create any chances Pulisic is way better than CHO but most of all we can’t play against deep defending lower placed hard working teams hazard left and it shows when we try to unlock teams

  • For me all the blame goes to Lampard. We are now getting tired and more frustrated that teams below us in all departments coming to get results at our backyard. And all the teams who have beaten us at the Bridge deployed the same strategy, which is defending in numbers and hitting us on the counter. And Lampard has noticed this, he has spoken about it, but still is failing to find a solution to it. What’s the need of beating Spurs away, whilst lesser teams like Bournemouth, Southampton are beating us at HOME! That’s not good enough. I’d rather preferred to win at home and lose away, than losing at home, especially to lesser teams like Bournemouth and Southampton.

  • Something controversial for you all Jorginho and Kovacic played well together ever since we have tried to accommodate Kante it’s not working at home for the best defensive midfielder in the league our defence is wide open

    • Kante should be sat in front of the back four end of story, Sarri started all this out of position crap, Kante is the best in the world when he plays in his correct position.

  • With his new role Kante cannot provide the cover that he used to. But that is still no excuse for the sort of results we have been having lately. Missed the match on TV because of a function, now i’m glad i did !

  • Zeenut you were the lucky one mate at the moment any team that’s workman like can come here quietly confident that they could get something having said that as crazy as it seems I’m confident that we will get something at Arsenal

  • 343 is defensive minded (despite conceding 2goals) and should be good against top teams. Small teams should be 4231 or 433 at least. What is wrong the coaches?
