Chelsea continue a hectic festive fixture programme with a home game against Southampton this evening.

After taking maximum points from their two previous festive fixtures, away to Watford and Crystal Palace, Chelsea will be keen to make it three wins out of three against a revitalised Southampton team who gave Manchester City a good game last time out.

Yesterday, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur registered impressive wins meaning Chelsea need a victory to close the gap on third-place Tottenham and also to pull away from fifth-placed Arsenal.

The fixture, against Southampton, is the last in the Premier League before the magic of the 3rd round of the FA Cup takes centre stage this weekend, with Chelsea welcoming Nottingham Forest to Stamford Bridge.

As usual, we’re running our Match Day Moments feature whereby we encourage you to leave your opinions, in our comment facility, on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to the big game.

2 – The starting eleven selected by Maurizio Sarri.

3 – The action as it happens at Stamford Bridge.

4 – Your feelings in the immediate period after the final whistle has sounded.

Fingers crossed we’re all smiles once that final whistle has sounded.

  • To drop points against a bottom club is dire …. Especially when the race for the 4th Champions League spot is going to go to the wire …

  • If Chelsea can find better replacements they should allow Hazard to leave. He doesn’t play with his colleagues but only plays for himself. He rarely passes the ball when his colleague is in and attacking position except in wide areas.

  • Southampton at home in the bottom three we should be hammering them this is a poor result we don’t need to give those red scum Utd and arse any chance of closing in on our top four spot we are toothless in our attack striker urgently needed or forget top four

  • Feels like we are slipping back to this time last season, depressing. Europa League may be our best shot at getting in the champions league.

  • Striker issue is bite us in the arse. Not sure about this team anymore. Top 4 is going to be a challange, the boys and sarri need have to be up for it.
