After losing to Manchester United, in the Carabao Cup, at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have a great opportunity to get back to winning ways this afternoon.

The Blues are making the short trip to Hertfordshire to take on a Watford side that have yet to win a Premier League game this season.

But, despite that statistic, we’re expecting Watford to prove to be stiff opposition.

As is the norm, we’re running our Match Day Moments feature where we give you the opportunity to offer your views, in our comment facility, on a variety of subjects related to the game including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to the fixture.

2 – The starting eleven selected by Frank Lampard

3 – The action as it happens at Vicarage Road.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period following the sound of the final whistle.

Here’s hoping, after the disappointment of Wednesday evening, we can get back to winning ways.

Up the Chels!

  • So Anthony Taylor you lousy MF, you fail to award a penalty or free kick when Emerson was brought down. And you award a free kick in the 6th minute of an extra time that should have lasted just 5mins (not sure where the 5min cane from)

  • Never a pen var is a joke no consistency just as bad as pre var we should have murdered them the score definitely flattered them we are a team in progress but definitely going in the right direction now and again we are going to suffer from not finishing teams off or mislaid passes or dwelling on the ball but that’s all in the learning process Kovacic and Jorginho are playing very well frank and Jody have got us playing some great stuff

  • It’s not easy to score many goals every match… You might have an off day in a match with creativity…. Or you create but forgot your scoring boots at home…

It happens in matches. We move forward.

  • Unfortunately after a bright start to the 2nd half, it’s Ajax who score. 1-4. CHO replaces an injured Mount. At the half Reece James replaced Alonso .

  • Chelsea pressing their 2 man advantage, Ajax holding on tenaciously …. Lots of breaks for VAR, let’s see how much ET gets added

  • We were getting a pasting from Ajax, but kept trying pluckily and got rewarded for the effort …. Should have won at the end with the 2 man advantage, Michy had a great chance which was saved by the Ajax goalie …. but that would have been a bit harsh on Ajax ….

  • Stray thoughts : CHO was very creative, we need him to start even if that means benching Willian. Emerson needs to replace Alonso for sure & Reece James eventually needs to takeover from Azpi who despite his goal & efforts does get into trouble against fast wingers. Lampard could have brought on Bats few minutes earlier, given the 2 man advantage. Chances were coming left & right and a few more minutes with 2 strikers might have done the trick. But from 1-4 to come back, great credit to the the & the spirit Lampard had built.
