Chelsea resume their Champions League campaign with a Group ‘C` game against the Serie A side, Roma.

The last time Chelsea played a fixture in Group ‘C` they ventured into the Wanda Metropolitano, in Madrid, to become the first English side to beat Atletico at home.

Since then, it`s all gone a bit pear-shaped with Chelsea losing consecutive Premier League games against Manchester City (h) and Crystal Palace (a).

But more worryingly, the performances provided were not up to the desired standard.

Can Antonio Conte shuffle the pack and get the Chelsea that played so well against Atletico Madrid to re-emerge?

As is the norm, we`re running our usual Match Day Moments feature, where we offer you the chance to air your opinions, in our comments facility, on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:

1 – The build up to the big game.

2 – The starting eleven named by Antonio Conte.

3 – The action as it happens at Stamford Bridge.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period between the final whistle sounding and the match report being published.

Come on Chelsea, bring a smile to our faces!

  • I see this as being a struggle, but I think the players will react to the Palace defeat. Assuming Morata starts I see Chelsea winning 2-1.

  • 18-year-old Achraf played at right back for Madrid yesternight against spurs… if it was my club, they will prefer to play Willy or another older guy out of position to fill the spot.. Later we will be hating on the young guys when they leave to find regular playing time..We will say he is not physical..And he can’t track back.

  • Today’s line up will tell us a lot of what Conte has learnt over the last 2 losses & what he believes is the solution to our woes ….

  • After Saturday?s disaster we need a convincing response tonight from the guys, but it?s Chelsea and unfortunately carries a degree of unpredictability. I?m trying not to think of Conte?s starting eleven as I?ve slagged Willian & Cahill off enough that I?m starting to tire of my own criticism.

  • Drinkwater is out for another month, FFS did we even give this guy a medical ?, he has already become of Remy of midfielders . Funnily enough Chalobah is crocked and so is RLC so no point in mentioning them .

  • In every position we have two players. I don’t understand what squad depth means again then
Look at spurs, they’re in the ucl. Smaller squad than ours.

Lost Danny rose, Wanyama, dembele lamela to injuries, they are still doing as good or slightly better than us.

Their manager can decide to cry a river. But he decides to stick to work.

Yesterday, he started Harry winks v Madrid, Conte can’t even start musonda v qarabag.
We should stop this excuse, it’s very boring
Moses isn’t used to playing many games according to Conte, then he should rotate with Zapacosta
Kenedy was good v forest, let him get some odd 20mins to rest Alonso who is our sole LWB
Kante can rotate with bakayoko luiz and Fabregas until drinkwater is fit.
    That allows Christensen to play
    Azpi was poor v Palace
    Play Rudiger sometimes

  • Well said @11Azip…, completely agree with you. Like you pointed out, Real Madrid have been playing Achraf since Carvajal got injured, they have no superstar/experienced backup for him…

  • Conte see’s these players every day in training, we do not . Second Moses was injured playing for Nigeria, he asked to come off at half time but the coach left him on.He probably should not have started against Palace . If Zappacosta is not getting games there is probably a good reason for it . At this rate we cannot even see Drinkwater getting a game until the new year . None of those Spurs players injured are as important as Kante is to us . As to Musonda and Qarabag, we needed those 3 points with Atleti and Roma coming up, it was important to hit the ground running . I really do not understand all this praise for Spuds from yourself and the media, this is their best result ever in Europe ,next to losing 4-3 to Inter , Real are off the pace this season , they would not have gotten that result last season even with a full strength team . Lets see how they do against City and United . Lastly Conte did win us a title last season , he deserves respect and some patience .

  • I really do like Conte and I want him to succeed and if possible, stay at chelsea for a couple more years. But to be objective and putting sentiments aside, even though the board fell just short in the transfer window imo, now that the window is closed and nothing can be done, Conte simply has to utilize the squad better than he is currently doing. I know he is not by any means perfect (even with his tactics attimes) but he is learning and I like his heart. Truth is regardless of what I type, Conte will be forced to rotate except we want more injuries. For example, after our match with Watford this coming saturday, a lot of the players would have played 3 matches in 7 days. It will be interesting to see what Conte does against Everton midweek in the Carabao cup especially with only Cecs/Bakayoko/Luiz in midfield all of whom would have played 3 times in 7 days already LOL. On the second point, from my perspective, it is a little unfair to compare Conte’s position currently with Poch and Zidane as I have the sense that both coaches have spent more time at their jobs compared to Conte who is just over a year and SOMETIMES confidence to play youth comes with a bit of time. Secondly, Conte appears desperate to avoid the “Mourinho season” and the “second season champion curse” in england ( where the manager of champions gets sacked before the end of the second season). In such scenario, it might be a little more difficult to turn to youth immediately. Truth is the Jury is out on Conte and his attitude to youth, but I still think Conte is probably more open to playing youth than a lot of pundits/fans think. I could be wrong, but I will prefer a firm opinion and give him a bit of time. If I am in his shoes currently, it wont be simple as just turning to youth when results are going south and I am trying to stem the tide especially with the second season pressure at chelsea. From this perspective, I can understand it but we will see..

  • This game is going to be so tough, but one thing I know; our performance in the UCL is superb and as such, we’ll beat them soundly

  • Football is never simple: QRB 0 – Atletico 0 LOL. When a team cedes possession to Atletico, goodness they are useless

  • Now, with a win we will be the only side that has qualified for the knockout phase already with the athletico madrid result today and all with three more matches to round off the group phase. what a way to dispel this wave of negativity that threatens to destroy our season even before we get to the business end of it…l.fa

  • Conte said the other day, he wants to stay as his daughter is in an English school, so he wants to remain until she completes her education . If Zidane comes up empty he will probably get the boot , Real like us is a pressure cooker, plus you have Ronaldo telling Perez “who to and who not to sign”. By contrast Poch has been given all the time in the world to build that team, no pressure, he can bring in kids at his leisure , we are trophy’s first above all else, that is how we roll, so comparing Spuds to us is two different scenarios . I think Conte will be given time, so lets be patient with him .
