Left behind whilst the remainder of the squad, apart from Diego Costa, travel to China and Singapore for the pre-season tour, Nemanja Matic is desperately trying to sort out his future.

Today, the media, led by the Daily Mail, which has picked up on something in the Italian media vehicle Corriere dello Sport, are inferring that Juventus could be the next stop for Matic.

Chances of a move to Manchester United seem to have dried up, on the back of the Lukaku situation and something you made abundantly clear in a recent poll.

However, it seems that whilst Matic is open to a move to Turin, he wants some assistance from Chelsea.

Our referenced source is implying that Matic would like the reported asking fee of £40 million lowered.

Here at Vital Chelsea we`d prefer it if Juventus would do a player part-exchange plus cash for Alex Sandro, but we don`t always get what we want do we?

  • He better shut up and allow the board do their business. Did he hear about the price tag of Pogba, Lukaku, Walker etc? And I do hope he knows about the price tags of players who have been targeted by Chelsea this summer transfer window

  • Damian, you need to understand that under the present circumstances our bargaining power is highly limited in the sense that we have already declared Matic surplus to requirement by signing Bakayoko and leaving him out of our tour of Asian to sort out his future.

  • So signing a new player automatically renders another surplus to requirement. What happens to competition for places?

  • Matic pushed for a move last Summer when kante arrival is imminent, Conte had to talked him out of it…Now he’s doing the same after bakayoko arrival, even had the audacity asking marina to lower the transfer fee so as to facilitate the move…Maybe we shouldn’t have sold Mikel last season..At least he would have been an option with pasalic to back cesc, kante ,bakayoko while we are competing for 4 different trophies..
I don’t think baker is defensively ready for this.

  • Christian, I do not believe Chelsea is in a hurry to offload Matic. The board better be clever with this one. Like recent rumour suggestions on Matic plus cash for Sandro sounds quite reasonable than Selling to Man United in my opinion. It’s about time Chelsea started playing hard balls with the likes of Madrid and some EPL clubs.
