Midfielder Heading Out Of The Exit Door on Transfer Deadline Day

|

Come the closure of the summer transfer window, at 17:00 hours this afternoon, I don’t expect Danny Drinkwater to be on the books of Chelsea football club.

With the club looking to bring in some cash following the extravagant expenditure on our new world-class (hopefully) keeper, Kepa, I expect the former Leicester City midfielder to be moved on.

Paying Leicester City £35 million for his services, a year ago, has been a ploy that hasn’t worked out for both the club and the player with Drinkwater getting very limited first-team opportunities, especially in the Premier League.

But, with the deadline looming, just where could Drinkwater end up?

One source, the Independent is inferring that Drinkwater could make a sentimental return to Leicester City, whilst another source, the Telegraph, is of the opinion that Drinkwater could remain in London with both West Ham United and Crystal Palace vying for his signature.

Personally, I have no preference as to where he ends up, although I do know we’ll not recoup anywhere near the fee we paid out, in fact, we’ll be lucky if we get 50% back in my opinion!
