As was widely predicted, Monaco have just appointed Michael Emenalo as directeur sportif.
I guess that basically means he’s going to be doing the same job at the Mediterranean principality as he was at Chelsea.
Like him or not, Emenalo left CFC recently with as good a record of trophies as anyone in his time and was bound to pick up a top job.
As ever with the, shall we say, tight-lipped Nigerian, it seems that he actually left Chelsea because Monaco wanted him, as opposed to the reason he gave at the time: wanting to spend more time with his family.
Some might call that downright lying.
Others might point at these lies as a hint at the kind of person the 52-year old was to deal with for a succession of Chelsea managers.
A person whose word(s) couldn’t be entirely trusted.
But when all is said and done, those who are interested will now have the perfect ‘test-bed’ to really see what’s what with Emenalo (and what was what) as his tenure in Monaco unfolds.
