Hindsight is such a wonderful thing!

Should Rafa Benitez have stuck with David Luiz in the midfield, like in the semi-final against Monterrey, or was he right to return him to the heart of the defence?

Either way it appears that those who judge such matters were impressed with the contribution of David Luiz by judging him to be the second best player in the tournament and awarding him the silver ball, scant consolation, we`d imagine, for missing out on the big prize on offer – the Club World Cup!

(Just for the record, the Corinthians keeper, Cassio, was adjudged too have been the best player of the tournament picking up the Golden ball whilst the Bronze ball went to the scorer of the winner in the final, Guerrero.)
