In the high-profile world of sport there are, inevitably, going to be situations whereby somebody well and truly puts there foot in it.
Years ago, and referring to a political situation, I can recall Ronald Reagan, not knowing his microphone was still live, telling those in ear-shot we should nuke the Russians.
Well it appears such a gaff befell Jose Mourinho recently.
The Special One, in an interview with the French TV station Canal Plus, remarked,
“The problem at Chelsea is that we are missing a striker. I have one in Samuel Eto`o but he is 32, possibly 35 who knows.”
On later being told that his comments had been picked up, Jose hastily tried to back-track insisting his comments, to the President of Hublot watches, were meant to be light-hearted and off camera.
Here at Vital Chelsea we reckon the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto`o might be casting a few glances in Jose`s direction as the squad heads out to Istanbul for a very important Champions League fixture.
