Thankfully, with the third international break of the season now completed, we can get back to the small matter of the Premier League this weekend.

For Chelsea, a difficult trip to the Etihad Stadium beckons with Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions being the opposition.

But, although on paper it looks a huge ask for Frank Lampard’s young side to add a victory to their recent run of 6 consecutive Premier League wins, Frank’s young side will emerge from the dressing room, on Saturday tea-time, knowing their splendid achievements so far this season sees them sitting above Manchester City in the current league table.

Hopefully, Frank will have a full-strength squad, barring Antonio Rudiger, for this fixture with everybody having returned from international duty without any injuries.

As is the norm, we’re giving you the opportunity to second-guess the starting eleven the gaffer will go for, simply drop your predicted starting XI’s into the comment facility beneath this article.

Will, anybody get it spot on?

Manchester City v Chelsea?

City to Win!

City to Win!

Chelsea to win

Chelsea to win

A Draw!

A Draw!

  • Nice play from the boys we started well but we gifted them their goals with casual passes and I think we respected them too much. My word what was Kepa doing there?

  • Hopefully we are going to get a better reaction from them in the next game. Why they stopped playing in the second half is beyond me and like I said earlier, we accorded them too much respect.

    • Too much love for Willian is bothering me. The man can’t cross balls in the box resulting in no supply to our striker. Each time he was given the ball was the end of the attack because he eventually lost possession of the ball, yet he played every single minute of the game.

  • Unfortunately we gave the ball away twice and got punished learning game I’m hoping but playing out of the back causes me some concern we always look fragile as for kepa that was just careless they would have been kicking themselves if we had got a draw that miss was awful but lucky for us ,we didn’t really hurt them enough with the possession we had but we have got a run of game in the premiership where we should get back to winning ways

  • I too sweat when we try to play out from the back even when the opposition is crowding us … as happened a few times yesterday …. valencia is the BIG game on which our CL progression depends …. i wouldn’t mind yesterdays result as much as i will if we don’t get a result vs valencia.

  • I clearly felt Emerson was not at his best yesterday …. too many times he failed to even try to cross, plus was a little slower than before his injury problems. Tomori needs to cut out the mistakes. Kepa needs to keep progressing, he is good but not in the elite bracket which he needs to be if we are to get silverware (one save can be the difference). Else everything good i felt & can get better once RLC, CHO, Rudy are fit again.

  • I think our 4th place in the table is about right, but its nowhere close to being secure despite the gap to 5th. There are good teams which will start moving up the table eventually. So we must keep our level of play up for the full season

  • Yeah, good game…i can never be disappointed that this current team lost 2-1 at Etihad to man city…. People overrated, overhyped themselves because city lost to pool at anfield.
Without seeing that game in reality, which could have gone either sides, city played so well against pool but couldn’t match the aggression and fast play and front quality of pool. And they suddenly thought city was down and Chelsea is another pool.

Chelsea doesn’t have that edge and steel to big top teams. It starts from the manager who is still inexperienced at this level and some players too.
Tomori seems to always make mistakes, but he is still a good defender… Emerson was off color,
Sarri taught Chelsea how to play at the back. And zouma was never going to fit in. Now, we have zouma and tomori, we don’t have the same quality of rudiger and Luiz on the ball.. We have to find a middle ground.

Willian always have poor game in 7/10 games he played for Chelsea against top teams.
Kepa is ok.. But he is not a title winning goal keeper. If Chelsea needs the premier league next season, a goal keeper is needed, a left back, a top winger with skilful left foot and a striker.
