After the disappointment of losing at home to Leicester City, Chelsea have recovered well with consecutive away wins against Watford and Crystal Palace, both by the odd goal.
This Wednesday, with the games coming thick and fast, we welcome Southampton, to Stamford Bridge, for a Premier League fixture.
A win against an improved Southampton side who were unlucky, courtesy of refereeing decisions, to lose to Manchester City last time out, would be most welcome as we head towards a weekend where the magic of the FA Cup 3rd round takes centre stage.
But, a run of fixtures in such a short space of time does complicate things for managers, fatigue and injury bites into the squad and as we prepare to face Southampton, Maurizio Sarri has a few problems to overcome.
Injuries to the squad have seen Cesc Fabregas, Danny Drinkwater, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Pedro, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Olivier Giroud side-lined, thereby reducing the options available to Sarri.
Any plans to implement a bit of squad rotation may have gone out of the window.
As usual, we’re running our usual feature whereby we ask you to second-guess our boss and predict the starting eleven the Italian will opt for.
Let’s see who can get it spot on or, indeed, who gets the closest.
