One Of Chelsea’s Spanish Contingent Set To Extend His Chelsea Stay

|

Okay, I’ll admit that when Marcus Alonso joined Chelsea Football Club, the signing didn’t exactly bring a smile to my face.

To me, it seemed as if the club were bringing in the Spaniard to bolster the squad whilst also smacking of being a panic buy.

But, that just goes to show how much I really know about the game and meant me eating a very large slice of humble pie.

Since his arrival, in 2016, Alonso has been a huge success, scoring 15 goals in 91 games, a decent goals-per-game ration for a left back-cum-wing back.

The media are reporting today and as featured in the Mirror, that the club and the Spaniard are in talks to extend the stay of the 27-year-old at the club.

Seemingly, a deal is very close to being done with, according to our referenced source, Alonso remarking about the situation:

“I am very calm and very happy at Chelsea , and the club must also be happy with me because, although I still have two years left on my contract, they have offered me an extension.

“We are talking about it and the talks to renew are already advanced.”

If ever a player deserved a new deal it is Alonso, let’s hope there are no hitches in getting the deal across the line.
