One Transfer Rumour We Covered Back In January Was Most Definitely True

|

Back in the days when the January transfer window was open, Chelsea Football Club were linked with a move for the young Italian midfielder, Nicola Barella.

However, any proposed deal floundered due to the fact the young Italian, on the books of Gianfranco Zola’s former club, Cagliari, didn’t want to leave Italy.

At the time, we had our doubts as to whether the speculation surrounding the 21-year-old was built on solid foundations.

Today, some two months later we have a definitive answer.

According to the Italian media source, Corrieredellosport, the Cagliari president, Tomasso Giulini, has confirmed he held discussions with two clubs relating to a possible deal for the youngster.

One of those clubs was Inter Milan and yes, the other was Chelsea.

I guess now our aspirations, in the transfer market, are hampered by a two-window transfer ban, any chances of Nicola Barella ending up a Chelsea are somewhat less than minimal.
