Opinion: I’d Be Happy For This Centre Back To Be Given His Chance At Chelsea

|

With the fixture list for the 2019 / 2020 season now out and a return to pre-season training not that far away, one Chelsea defender is left in limbo as to where he’ll be playing next season.

After successive seasons out on loan, first at Stoke City and then at Everton, Kurt Zouma may well be hoping that the two-window transfer ban the club are operating under, could kick-start, again, his Chelsea career, even more so with Antonio Rudiger struggling to be fit for the start of the season and with Gary Cahill no longer with us.

However, having impressed whilst on loan at Everton last season, it appears, according to the Telegraph, that Everton are keen to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent basis and have opened talks with Chelsea about a deal.

However, it appears, according to the Daily Star that Chelsea are reticent to do a deal, quite rightly, until they have appointed a replacement for the departed Maurizio Sarri.

Sat in the editorial chair, here at Vital Chelsea, I’d like to see Zouma remain at Stamford Bridge and battling the likes of Rudiger, David Luiz and Andreas Christensen for a place in the heart of the Chelsea defence.

It could well be a case of Kurt biding his time, waiting for a chance and then producing the kind of performances that would ensure the new boss couldn’t possibly drop him.

But what are your thoughts on Kurt Zouma, should he be given a chance next season or is the time ripe to do a permanent deal, if the price is right, with Everton.
