Pedro Signs Contract Extension At Chelsea

|

Much to my surprise!

As the 2017 / 2018 season drifted to a successful conclusion on one front, with Chelsea winning the FA Cup, I suspected that following our fifth-place finish in the Premier League and a failure to qualify for the Champions League this season, there would be major changes to the squad.

One change I envisaged was the probable departure of our Spanish forward Pedro.

Pedro had what could best be described as an indifferent second-half to the season, often being left on the sidelines as Antonio Conte shuffled the pack.

However, it seems my theory couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Today, it has been confirmed by the BBC, that Pedro, now 31-years-of-age, has signed a one-year contract extension with the club that keeps him at Stamford Bridge until at least 2020.

In our pre-season matches, Pedro has shown that the change in the managerial hot-seat, with Maurizio Sarri replacing Conte, has seen an upturn in form for the popular Spaniard, with Pedro scoring goals in the pre-season games against Perth Glory and Inter Milan.

Our referenced source carries a comment attributed to Pedro that reads;

“I am comfortable here and want to win new titles and trophies.”

Clearly, despite the events of last season, Pedro is enjoying life with Chelsea and with Sarri looking to play fast, attacking football, Pedro’s pace and skills could prove to be invaluable.
