Pulisic Signs For Chelsea But There’s A Sting In The Tail

|

Today, Chelsea became the first of the so-called big clubs to sign a player in the January transfer window.

In fact, it is fair to say that Chelsea have moved swiftly to ensure that they didn’t lose this player to another club before the deal was done.

The news source, the BBC, has confirmed that Chelsea have succeeded where both Liverpool and Arsenal have failed, namely signing the Borussia Dortmund forward, Christian Pulisic.

But I can’t help but think there is a sting in the tail when it comes to this deal for the 20-year-old US international.

After completing the deal, it was immediately announced that Pulisic would be loaned back to Borussia Dortmund, until the end of the season.

Now having paid, a reputed £58 million for the player, that seems a bit strange.

But it could be put down to two reasons.

Firstly, it may have been at the insistence of Borussia Dortmund in order for Chelsea to secure the services of the player.

Or, secondly, it could be a case of Chelsea striking deals for players ahead of a feared transfer ban that could, courtesy of a FIFA investigation, be looming large.

Which of the two do you think it might be?
