Respected Media Source Outrageous Chelsea Goalkeeper Insinuation

|

Last week, Chelsea paid a world record fee, of £71.5 million, to bring the young Spanish goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, to Stamford Bridge.

It was a move necessitated by the sale of Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid.

Yesterday, against Huddersfield Town, Kepa made his debut for Chelsea and kept a clean sheet, the first of many we hope.

However, according to the new source, the Times, it seems that Kepa wasn’t the first choice to replace Courtois.

According to our referenced source, Chelsea harboured ambitions of bringing the Atletico Madrid keeper, Jan Oblak, to the club.

In fact, according to our source, Chelsea met the buy-out clause the Slovakian has in his contract, a huge £90 million.

But, it appears the deal never went through as Oblak wasn’t interested in a move to Chelsea Football Club.

A harsh question perhaps, but which of the two would you have preferred to see at Stamford Bridge – Kepa Arrizabalaga or Jan Oblak?
