Ruben Is Going Out On-Loan For The 2018 / 2019 Season

|

One leading news source has confirmed,

But, before you all get worried the Ruben in question isn’t Ruben Loftus-Cheek who we fully expect to be in Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven against Panama, on Sunday, in the World Cup.

In fact, the Ruben in question is Ruben Sammut who captained the Chelsea U23 side last season.

Sammut, a Scottish U21 midfielder, has signed for Falkirk on a season-long loan deal and talking about the deal, the Falkirk manager, Paul Hartley, is quoted by the BBC as having remarked,

“Ruben has been brought through and trained at an elite level having been with Chelsea from such a young age.

“He has massive potential and I think the opportunity for him now to experience first-team football will be of huge benefit to all parties.”

Sammut has, indeed, been at Chelsea since the age of eight and the midfielder is highly thought of having put pen-to-paper on a contract extension at Stamford Bridge that ties him to the club until the summer of 2019.

In our opinion, it is a good deal for all parties concerned, Falkirk gets the use of an emerging talent for the season, Sammut gets to play first team football on a regular basis and Chelsea will be able to monitor how the player does in a competitive league.
