Chelsea can add a third Southampton player, Cedric Soares, to the list of potential transfer targets this summer, according to reports in the Evening Standard.

The Southampton right backs performances have been so impressive that Soares, who only signed a new four year deal at the St Mary’s last summer, has caught the eye of Barcelona as well as Chelsea?

It has been claimed the Portugal international will compete with, if not replace, Victor Moses in the right-wing-back spot as Antonio Conte looks to add to the squad – not only with quality but also experience in preparation for the Champions League return.

As the Standard reminds us Chelsea have already been linked with a big money move for central defender Virgil van Dijk with a familiar face, Ryan Bertrand – who would compete with Marcus Alonso, also in line for a potential return to Stamford Bridge.

Southampton aren’t looking to sell any of the trio, all under long-term deals on the South Coast, but the thinking is Chelsea will push on with bids for all three in anticipation of securing at least one of them…
