Sarri – A Leopard That Won’t Change Its Spots

|

After a third consecutive poor result away from home, in the Premier League, it’s clear that action needs to be taken.

A continuation of such form will see our season slip further away with the inevitable result we’ll finish without any silverware but also miss out on a top-four place, therefore, dipping out on a particularly lucrative financial cash-cow.

Now whether Maurizio Sarri is the man to steer the ship into calmer waters or whether it’ll run aground on the rocks is a debatable subject.
But, following the humiliating drubbing experienced at the Etihad Stadium, against Manchester City, the news source, the Daily Mail, is reporting that the players held a clear-the-air meeting at the Cobham training facility on Monday morning.

Now when they say clear-the-air, one can only hope it was a no-holds-barred meeting where anybody was free to say exactly what they felt needed saying without fear of retribution.

If that was the case, here at Vital Chelsea, we hope somebody had the testicular fortitude to step forward and say exactly what was required, namely, show some fight and togetherness.

Also, somebody needed to step forward and implore Sarri to move N’Golo Kante back to his favoured position in front of the back-four, drop Alonso and give Emerson a chance and give Callum Hudson-Odoi the starts he needs to grow in confidence and develop into the world-beater many think he is capable of becoming.

But, whether Sarri would have listened remains debatable, I’d hazard a guess that the team-sheet for the forthcoming games and the tactics played will be all too familiar.

A case of a leopard not changing its spots I fear!
