Sarri Pleased With Chelsea Win At Fulham But…………………….

|

At one stage, in the first half, it looked as if Chelsea were going to do a demolition job on Fulham, in the West London derby.

Leading 2-1, after Jorginho had restored Chelsea’s lead, following a surprise equaliser from Callum Chambers, Chelsea moved slickly through the gears to create chance after chance, bringing the Fulham goalkeeper, Rico, into the game.

But, as the second-half got underway, Chelsea looked to have eased off the pedal and the slick performance of the first-half deteriorated into the kind of lacklustre display that has seen the side suffer some poor results.

Only some sloppy finishing from Fulham and some top-class keeping from Kepa ensured the three points came our way.

After the game, talking to the media and as reported by the BBC Maurizio Sarri blamed the poor last 30 minutes on tiredness, remarking:

“We played very well only for 60 minutes. We could have killed the match.

“We were not able to so in the last 20 or 25 minutes we were in trouble because we were very tired mentally and physically after 120 minutes against Manchester City and a strong match against Tottenham.

“But I am really very happy with the performance for 60 minutes and the result.

Although the win did, eventually, come our way, I can’t help but think the better teams in the Premier League, teams who we still have to play would have put us to the sword in those last 30 minutes!
