Sarri’s Precarious Position At Chelsea Continues To Dominate The News

|

Speculation continues to grow inferring that it Is not a case of if Chelsea are going to sack Maurizio Sarri, after a poor string of results and performances, but when!

According to the tabloid news source, the Mirror the end could come this Sunday if, as could be the case, Chelsea suffer another heavy defeat, at the hands of Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final.

Elsewhere, another red-top publication, the Sun is suggesting that sacking Sarri, who has fallen from grace as far as the Stamford Bridge faithful are concerned, won’t be as expensive as axing previous Chelsea managers has been.

The above-referenced source implied it could cost Chelsea as little as £5 million to ease the Italian out of the door.

But, if an axing is imminent, then who could be set to take over?

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have identified two front-runners, the former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, and the Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

It could be described as a ‘chalk and cheese’ choice with Zidane an experienced boss with three Champions League wins on his CV whereas Lampard is in his first season as the boss of Derby County, his first managerial role.

Clearly, the next few days could be action-packed as far as the managerial hot-seat at Stamford Bridge goes!

But one question I’d like to ask is, what happens if Chelsea beat Manchester City, on Sunday, is all forgiven or will the inevitable be delayed?
