Following on from our poll asking who our best signing was during the summer transfer window, we followed that by asking the same question of the January window.

The choices were few given Marina Granovskaia’s reluctance to splash Roman Abramovich’s cash. They were,

Ross Barkley
Emerson
Olivier Giroud

Similar to the summer poll, it was the player who has impacted the starting XI the most, Olivier Giroud, topped out with 56% of the votes. No real surprise, the Frenchman has looked the most at home.

Emerson came in second with 31%, however, he has barely been given the opportunity by Antonio Conte to show whether he`s capable of deposing Marcos Alonso of his place. He has the potential, but may have to wait until next season.

Bringing up the rear of the poll was Ross Barkley who`s 13% reflects his lack of game time due to a recurring hamstring injury. Like Emerson, he’s still young enough to have an impact.

So it was the two strikers brought into the team that were deemed to have been the best deals of season`s two transfer windows. If we’re totally honest, neither was particularly good though. Maybe, the ‘big names’ have seen how Chelsea operate as a club are not keen to get involved with the whole soap opera. Still soon be summer and big changes are afoot.
