With many of us on a day off, still wiping the sleep from our eyes, the announcement from Chelsea Football Club that Frank Lampard had finally been officially announced as our new boss, has given us the perfect start to the day.
Okay, we all knew it was in the pipeline but there was always that awful feeling that talks might break down at the last minutes, thankfully, they didn’t.
Following the announcement, the below appeared on the official Chelsea twitter site:
'He belongs to the Blues.' ????

I think it’s fair to say that the appointment of Frank hasn’t been given as much universal support, from the Chelsea faithful, since Jose Mourinho first arrived at the club.
It certainly feels as if the appointment is right for the club and that, given the opportunity, Frank will go on to do great things for the club.
As you’d expect, the social media networks are alive with posts from overjoyed supporters airing their views, the following illustrate that point perfectly:
I saw you as a player when I was a child. I can’t wait to tell my child about you as a manager!

My hero. Welcome back

Welcome home! As a boss!????
— ka???? (@kamstfmm1905) July 4, 2019
But, with Chelsea having a record of not giving managers time to succeed when results don’t quite go their way, the following post carries some resonance:
Love you LEGEND! we will support you through the good and bad times! I hope the Chelsea board will back you till the end because you deserve every chance here at Chelsea because this is the club you LOVE! #WelcomeHomeFrank
— ????₴₳₦ĐɎ ₱ɆⱤɆⱤ₳???? (@QueenSandy_CFC) July 4, 2019
However, on such a joyous day, it’d be churlish to not leave you with a couple more joyous posts celebrating the fact that Frank has come home:
Spine tingling.

Exciting times ahead. The club the fans everyone needs to get behind him now and most importantly give him time.

And finally, a tweet containing a quote from the man himself:
"This club becomes you. Once you’ve played for it, you’re always welcomed back for the rest of your life, so you become Chelsea and it becomes you.” – Frank Lampard. #WelcomeHomeFrank #OneofUs
