Somebody Already On Chelsea’s Books Could Save The Club A Fortune

|

That could well be the case!

Whenever a club appoints a new manager there’s an element of inevitability that he’ll look towards his former club to see which players he believes would, at the right price, improve the squad he has inherited.

Already, since appointing Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea have splashed out £50 million to bring the midfielder Jorginho, to Stamford Bridge from Napoli.

Today, despite there being rumours that Chelsea had agreed to not ‘poach’ any more of Napoli’s playing staff, speculation has emerged that Chelsea are indeed being linked with a defender currently on the books of the Serie A club.

The defender in question being somebody the club has been linked with in previous transfer windows, Kalidou Koulibaly.

Sarri’s style of play is based on producing attacking, attractive football and at Napoli, Koulibaly was instrumental in starting quick attacking moves by bringing the ball out of defence.

However, aware of Chelsea’s interest in the defender, the news source, the Mirror, are reporting that Napoli have slapped a £80 million price-tag on the player, surely too much to spend on the 27-year-old.

Perhaps, another more viable alternative is already on hand at the club, in the form of David Luiz.

The Brazilian is more than adept at bringing the ball out of defence and if Sarri can install in the player the discipline Conte managed to during the 2016 / 2017 Premier League title-winning season then we could, effectively, kill two birds with one stone.

But what are your views on the above subject matter?

Could the arrival of Sarri see David Luiz rejuvenated for the second time?
