This Saturday Chelsea are heading down to the south-coast to take on a Southampton side who continue to impress and are chasing a Europa League place.

On the eve of the fixture we`ve, as we tend to do, delved into the history and form books to come up with a few facts and figures for you to mull over.

Here`s some for you to mull over:-

1 – Southampton usually do well against Chelsea, much to our dismay. In the last three Premier League meetings, Chelsea have lost 1 and drawn 2

2 – When it comes to the last 7 meetings between the two clubs, Southampton have been beaten just twice.

3 – But, despite the above, Chelsea have only lost once of their last Premier League visits to St Marys with a record that reads won 4, drawn 2 and lost 1.

4 – Southampton are on a good run of form at St Marys, winning five out of the last six and drawing the other.

5 – If Chelsea are beaten in this fixture it will be Southampton`s fifth successive Premier League victory at St Marys.

6 – Southampton have not conceded a Premier League goal for nine hours and fourteen minutes, a remarkable achievement.

7 – Chelsea will need to be aware of Southampton`s aerial prowess, they`ve scored 11 headed goals, the most by any Premier League side this season.

8 – Chelsea enter this fixture on a domestic unbeaten run that stretches back 10 Premier League matches, during this run Chelsea have won 4 and drawn 6.

9 – Chelsea have managed just 12 goals in their 12 Premier League games this season.

10 – Diego Costa is an in-form striker having netted 7 times in his last 8 Premier League games.
