|

Back in the days when speculation was rife and the January transfer window was open, the subject of the future of Cesc Fabregas generated numerous column inches.

Fabregas, as we’re all aware, opted to say an emotional goodbye to Chelsea Football Club for a career swansong with the La Ligue club, Monaco.

At the time, the inference was given by the club that Fabregas would not be leaving Stamford Bridge until a replacement midfielder was acquired.

As it turned out this was not to be the case with Chelsea not bringing in a replacement.

However, today a piece of news has emerged, courtesy of the news source, Talksport, which has picked up on something in the Spanish media, that infers Chelsea were actively looking to bring in a midfielder to bolster the squad.

According to our referenced news source, Chelsea were looking to replace on Spaniard with another with the Sevilla midfielder Pablo Sarabia being the target.

But, it seems according to our source, the 26-year-old rejected the chance to join Chelsea.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we can only surmise that any possible deal broke down too near to the transfer window for Chelsea to recover the situation or seek an alternative signing.
