Recently there has been talk of Tammy Abraham switching international allegiance and playing for the Nigerian team. Having been part of the England set-up at junior levels, the possibility of a switch exists due to Nigeria being his father`s birthplace. The president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick claimed Abraham had committed to choosing his country over England.
Pinnick and the Chelsea youngsters` dad were friends in Nigeria in their early days. However this was enough to convince Abraham to make the switch. The Evening Standard has quotes from Abraham refuting the claims in a statement,

`Contrary to reports in the media today I would like to clarify that I have not agreed to switch my national team allegiance. I can confirm I met the President of the NFF after our last game against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday given he is a friend of my father. However, any suggestion that I have made a decision to change my international representation is incorrect and wide of the mark. I have informed The FA that I remain available for selection for England.`

Before heading off on loan to Swansea City, Abraham signed a five year deal with Chelsea. He`s been at the club since he was just seven years old. Let`s hope the experience that he`ll gain under ex-Chelsea coach Paul Clement with the Swans, will prepare him for a long career with the Blues when he returns next season.
